Berlin – from half height

A few years ago I watched an amazing documentary about a camera-flight over Berlin from half height and I always wanted to share it. But unfortunately it is only available in German.

Now I found it in 3 parts on You Tube, watched it again the other day and can’t help myself – I have to share it with you, because the pictures tell their own story.

Since the German TV-Chanel PHOENIX is going to broadcast the film again on the 3rd of October there was even some information I could translate for you. See below the videos.

I hope you’ll enjoy this extraordinary sight on Berlin as much as I did.

Berlin – from half height
With the Zeppelin over the capital of Germany

A film by Georg Berger und Michael Johnson

Fly like a bird, an old dream comes true. At least for the camera by Jürgen Hohmuth and Ralf Brauner.

The two photographers and videographers from Prenzlauer Berg have hung up their HD camera to a seven-meter-long Zeppelin. Pulled from the ground, the helium-filled airship camera flies at an altitude of about four to 60 meters over the city.

Unlike all previous aerial photographers photograph and film Hohmuth and Brauner the city virtually of half-height. So occur never seen, brilliant images created in the new HD technology.

The film authors explore together with historian Christoph Stölzl, the Vice-President of the Bundestag, Wolfgang Thierse and the Berlin actress Dana Golombek the city anew.

They wander around flying eye to eye with the “Gold Else” above the tops of the zoo, look into the hollow tooth of the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and experience the seemingly floating figures at the edge of the roof of the Reichstag.

Berlin – from half height that are 45 minutes from the real bird’s eye view.
