Alexander the Great was traveling with a group of soldiers when he came to a line of wise men who sat meditating in the middle of the road. These wise men blocked Alexander’s progression, so an officer began to verbally assault them. As time passed, he began to taunt one wise man more than the others.
As Alexander approached, the officer pointed to his leader and said to the wise man, “This man has conquered the world! What have you accomplished?”
The wise man replied, “I have conquered the need to conquer the world.”
It is only when we have defeated the illusion of control (in all spheres of life) that we truly find peace.
